Here's a part of the finished illustration from my last post. Only a few adjustments - but they really made the difference! I'll show you more when the book is published.

Highlights of 2011:
- I illustrated 9 books
- I had 2 exhibitions of my illustrations
- I worked on my first book manuscripts (yes, more than one) for a client
- I was featured in a couple of big newspaper articles (including a cover) when the first books about "Nilsen" got released
- 2 of the books in the series about "Nilsen" got sold to Denmark, and 2 books I've illustrated earlier got published in Denmark

- I traveled to Valencia, London (2 times) and several places in USA
- I participated in my first bicycle race
- I did a lot of running, and sat a new personal best: 15 km. withouth stopping
- I was a bikini model for a woman's magazine (fun personal challenge)

After a busy year, and over 500 illustrations, it was nice to relax during the holidays. Now I'm excited to see what 2012 brings!

I just finished my calendar for 2012! Each month has it's own page with an illustration and the dates. If you'd like to buy one just send me an e-mail. The text of the months is written in Norwegian, but it's easy to understand.

"Nilsen" books sold to Denmark

This week 2 of the books in the series about Nilsen and Dina was sold to Lamberth Publishers in Denmark! I'm looking forward to see their versions of "Nilsen og stellebordet" and "Nilsen og Ne".

When I delivered the sketch for the cover of "Nilsen og Ne" my editor asked for some changes to Nilsen's pose. In the story, Nilsen is desperately trying to get his family to understand that he needs his bunny, Ne, but they don't understand what he's trying to say. On the cover you can see him pointing at the bunny, so we decided to make his body language more "active". I think it made the illustration a lot better!

When I start working on a book I draw a lot of tiny sketches like these just to get the ideas on paper. It's a good way to plan how each page will look, without spending time trying to get it to look "good" or "right". That part comes later!
