It's always interesting to see the process behind a book. Take a look at this blog post to see the different stages of the art behind David Hyde Costello's first picture book "I Can Help". It's fun to see how the first sketches gradually turns into a finished book.

New book - Lights, Music & Me: Jesus Loves Me

Yesterday my copies of the book "Lights, Music & Me: Jesus Loves Me" arrived. I illustrated this book for Publications International last year, and it was so exciting to finally see how the book turned out. I'm really happy with it. It looks amazing - and it has blinking lights and music too!

I'm playing around with patterns these days, and it was a lot of fun putting together this pattern of farm animals. I like how it turned out.

I want to show you a close-up of one of the illustrations I created for High Five Magazine. This is painted with acrylic paints on watercolor paper. I actually worked on these winter scenes in the middle of the summer last year. It confused me at times, when I looked up from my work and out of the window - but it was a lot of fun!

I have 4 illustrations in this month's issue of Highlights High Five Magazine. High Five is always filled with lots of amazing illustrations, and my friend and fellow Illustration for kids member Jannie is also featured in the February issue.

I'm having a lot of fun creating digital illustrations these days. One of the things I love about working digital is that it's easier to control colors and details than it is with regular paint.

I've started to work completely digital lately, and I'm having so much fun with it! I'm really happy with these animals that I made using a mix of Adobe Illustrator and Corel Painter. Now I want to draw more animals!

I recently discovered that the book "At School" is published. I illustrated this for Macmillan 2 years ago. I didn't know the release date, just that it would take some time, so it was fun to find out that it's out there.

I love the book The Gruffalo! It's a funny story with amazing illustrations. In this video illustrator Axel Scheffler talks about his earliest Gruffalo sketches. It's very interesting. I also recently saw the animated film version of The Gruffalo. If you like the book, you're gonna love the film!
